Pyramid Healthcare is committed to providing comprehensive care for substance use and mental health disorders.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth, also known as telemedicine, refers to providing healthcare services through digital means, such as video conferencing, phone, and email. At Pyramid, our clinicians provide telebehavioral health to clients who need substance abuse or mental health treatment. Clients engage in the same services they would in person at our outpatient locations.
What are the Benefits of Teletherapy?
Teletherapy has many benefits for clients:
- It allows greater access to quality care. For example, people who live in remote areas can obtain treatment without having to travel to a Pyramid facility.
- Telehealth is convenient. People can participate anytime, anywhere.
- It can eliminate associated treatment costs, like travel or childcare.
In addition, telehealth can reduce stigma associated with addiction or mental health treatment. Some people may feel more comfortable seeking treatment from home rather than in a clinical setting.
Is Teletherapy as Effective as In-Person Therapy?
Studies show that telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy. Video conferencing provides the best virtual experience, allowing the client and therapist to make eye contact and observe some nonverbal cues.
Is Teletherapy HIPAA Compliant?
Teletherapy is held to the same HIPAA standards, and therefore, your information should be kept private and confidential. Providers who are offering telehealth must use HIPAA compliant platforms.
Pyramid uses Bluejeans to conduct online counseling sessions via video conferencing. You’ll connect to one of our certified therapists through the platform. Bluejeans uses highly-secure, encrypted video connectivity, meaning information is only available to you and your therapist.
Is it Covered by Insurance?
Confirm with your provider that telehealth is covered. We have reached out to all of our commercial insurance providers regarding telehealth, and most have agreed to cover these services. You can also contact us with questions regarding insurance and payment.
How Do I Schedule or Join a Telehealth Session?
If you are not a current client of Pyramid, you’ll first need to call our admissions department. Our admissions department can provide assessments through Bluejeans. Level of Care Assessments take about 1.5 to 2.5 hours. In these assessments, we’ll determine your treatment goals.
Clients will have Bluejeans login information for scheduling and attending meetings.
Before a virtual therapy session, find a quiet space in your home where you won’t be disturbed. Make sure you have a strong internet connection and that your device is fully charged. Consider using headphones to improve sound quality and privacy.
